Information for runners

Within the 11th edition of Silesia Marathon the following will be held:

  • Silesia Marathon (6th October, start at 9.00)
  • Silesia Half Marathon (6th October, start at 10.45)
  • Ultra Silesia Marathon (6th October, start at 8.40)
  • RMF FM Cup Silesia Mini Marathon (5th October, start at 11.00)

 Silesia Marathon, Silesia Half Marathon and Ultra Silesia Marathon
ENTRY
 If you did not manage to register for the race until September 19 or you have not paid the entry fee, you still have the opportunity to do it in the Race Office (if we have not reached the limits) at the Silesian Stadium in Chorzów at Katowicka 10 Street (entrance gate 1A):
  • October 4th, 2019 at 15.00 – 20.00
  • October 5th, 2019 at 10.00 – 20.00. The amount of start numbers is limited.
RACE PACK
When you pay your registration fee you also automatically get your running number. The Race Pack can be picked up at the Race Office at the Silesian Stadium as follows:
  • 4th October, 2019: 15.00-20.00
  • 5th October, 2019: 10.00-20.00
  • 6th October, 2019: 6.30-7.30 (marathon and ultramarathon), 6:30-9:00 (half marathon)
To pick up your Start Pack at the Run Office:
  •  bring your identification,
  • check your running number (at the race website in the runner search, on your account when you log into the mobile application, or on the runners list in the Run Office),
  • go to the stand marked with your running number,
  • say your running number, present your identification, check the data on the running sheet and sign it
  • if you want someone else to pick up your start pack, provide them with your signed running sheet that you can download after logging into the race website. The nominee, upon presentation of your signed sheet and a copy of an identification to the Run Office Team, will receive your Start Pack.
The Race Pack contains, among others:
  • a running number bib with an integrated chip and safety pins (to be placed on your chest),
  • a souvenir technical shirt (the size you have ordered before),
  • souvenirs from the race Organizer and Sponsors.

 

HOW TO GET THERE

The Race Office is located on the Silesian Stadium (entrance gate 1A):

  • by car

Chorzowska Street, Katowice – entrance to the parking zone P8. On October 4th and 5th, departure from the P8 car park (for people commuting to the Race Office) based on the start number will be free.

  • by public transport ZTM

By tram – lines 6, 11, 19 (stop “Chorzów–Stadion Śląski” or “Park Śląski Wejście Główne”)

By bus – lines 6, 98, 663 (“Chorzów–AKS” stop)

Access to the start and return from the competition by public transport based on starting numbers will be free! Use metropolitan communication.

On October 6th, entry to all car parks belonging to the Silesian Park will be charged for an earlier reservation.
Parking tickets will be available for purchase from 13th September at: https://www.ticketmaster.pl.

DEPOSIT, CHANGING ROOMS, TOILETS, MASSAGE
– The deposit for runners starting on October 6th will be located at the Silesian Stadium next to the Race Office and will be open from 7.30-10.30 and after the race to 15:30 in the same place.
WARNING! Before you leave the Runner’s Zone, make sure you have taken your stuff from the deposit. For security reasons of mass events, baggage transferred to the deposit will be subject to control
– Changing rooms will be available right next to the deposit.
– Massage zone will be located behind the finish line, in the Runner’s Zone.
– Toilets for the runners will be located near to the start and along the run route (behind the hydration stations) and at the Silesian Stadium.

START
Ultra Marathon:
The starting line will be at the Silesian Stadium near gate 1.
The entrance to the start zone will be opened at 7.30 and it will be possible to reach there only through gate 3.
We remind you that all runners should line up on starting line at 8.30.The start of the race is scheduled for 8.40 and the starting line will be closed at 8.45.

Marathon:

The starting line will be located at the Silesian Stadium near gate 1.

The entrance to the start zone will be opened at 7.30 and it will be possible to reach there only through gate 3.
We remind you that all runners should line up at 8:45 a.m. in appropriate pre-start zones:
Zone A – time below 3:00:01,
Zone B – time 3:00:01-3:30:00,
Zone C – time 3:30:01-4:00:00,
Zone D – time 4:00:01-4:30:00,
Zone E – time 4:30:01-5:00:00,
Zone F – time above 5:00:00.
The start of the race is scheduled for 9.00 and the starting line will be closed at 9.15.
Half marathon:
The starting line will be located at the Silesian Stadium near gate 1.
The entrance to the start zone will be opened at 9.20 and it will be possible to reach there only through gate 3.
We remind you that all runners should line up at 10.30 in appropriate pre-start zones:
Zone A – time below 1:30:01,
Zone B – time 1:30:01-1:40:00,
Zone C – time 1:40:01-1:50:00,
Zone D – time 1:50:01-2:00:00,
Zone E – time 2:00:01-2:10:00,
Zone F – time above 2:10:01.Start of the race is planned for 10.45 and the start line will be closed at 11.00.
Note: at 10.43 there will be an honorary start, time measurement and start to run will take place about 200 meters below the honorary start at 10.45.
Each runner must display a starting number with a chip, not covered and placed on the front of the shirt!
Lack of a number with a chip, transferring a number to an unauthorized person to run, blocking a number or placing it in a place other than the one indicated above, results in the player being disqualified.
To support the less experienced runners, groups of pacemakers will be present at both distances. You will get to know them after the balloons with time and specially marked start numbers.
PARKINGS, TRANSPORT
  • Participants are encouraged to take advantage of the free access to the public transport by ZGM – based on the start number.

Free parking spaces can be found in the center of Katowice, at Silesia City Center or at Bracka Street in Katowice.

 

THE ROUTE 

The routes of the ultramarathon, marathon and the half marathon are partly overlapping.
Ultra Marathon: on 17.5th km of ultramarathon route runners join the runners taking part in the marathon.
Marathon: at 10th km marathon runners meet runners competing in the Ultra Marathon, and at 28.5th km runners compete in the half marathon. Marathon runners running below 4:50:00 should not meet runners starting in the half marathon at all.
Halfmarathon: on the 8th km of the half marathon route, runners join the runners of the marathon and ultramarathon.

Marathon

  • There are nutrition points along the route, located around the kilometers no. 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 37,5 and 40.
  • The nutrition points on kms 5 and 37.5 provide spring water and the remaining ones offer: an isotonic drink, spring water as well and snacks like bananas, chocolate/sugar (depending on weather) and biscuits.
  • Nutrition points will be located on one or both sides of the road. At each point, the number of tables will be adjusted to the players’ needs and it should be remembered that the tables with water will be located both at the beginning of the nutrition point and at its end.
  • This year, along the Silesia Marathon route, drinks will be served in paper cups. At a distance of about 50 and 100 meters behind the nutrition points, there will be containers for disposable cups. Don’t litter the city! Be ECO, just like us.
  • Time check points will be located at kms 10, 20 and 30, it is possible that additional check points will be placed as well.
  • The route of the race will also be attended by the organiser’s vehicles, medical service, security and emergency vehicles. Bicycle assistance is not allowed, under the threat of disqualification. 

 

Half marathon

  • There are nutrition points along the route, located around the kilometers no. 5, 9, 14, 16,5 and 19.
  • The nutrition points on kms 5 and 16,5 will provide spring water and the remaining ones offer: an isotonic drink, spring water and snacks like bananas, chocolate/sugar (depending on weather) and biscuits.
  • Nutrition points will be located on one or both sides of the road. At each point, the number of tables will be adjusted to the players’ needs and it should be remembered that the tables with water will be located both at the beginning of the nutrition point and at its end.
  • This year, along the Silesia Marathon route, drinks will be served in paper cups. At a distance of about 50 and 100 meters behind the nutrition points, there will be containers for disposable cups. Don’t litter the city! Be ECO, just like us.

Ultra Maraton

  • There are nutrition points along the route, located around the kilometers no. 5, 11, 16, 18, 23, 28, 33, 38, 43, 45,5 and 48.
  • The nutrition points on kms 5 and 45,5 will provide spring water and the remaining ones offer: an isotonic drink, spring water and snacks like bananas, chocolate/sugar (depending on weather) and biscuits.
  • Nutrition points will be located on one or both sides of the road. At each point, the number of tables will be adjusted to the players’ needs and it should be remembered that the tables with water will be located both at the beginning of the nutrition point and at its end.
  • This year, along the Silesia Marathon route, drinks will be served in paper cups. At a distance of about 50 and 100 meters behind the nutrition points, there will be containers for disposable cups. Don’t litter the city! Be ECO, just like us.
  • Time check points will be located at around 18th, 28,5th and 38th km.
  • The route of the race will also be attended by the organiser’s vehicles, medical service, security and emergency vehicles. Bicycle assistance is not allowed, under the threat of disqualification. 
  • The route of the 50 km run coincides with the marathon route, and additional kilometers have been marked out on the alleys of the Katowice Valley of the Three Ponds. At the 9.7th km route, there is a furcation, where the ultramarathon runners run straight ahead, and the marathon runners turn left. Most of the ultra marathon runners should reach the furcation before the top marathon runners.

FINISH

  • The Finish Line of all of the races will be located at the Silesia Stadium.
  • Every runner who finishes within the statutory time will receive a medal and a food kit.
  • Please promptly leave the finish zone allowing other runners to comfortably complete the race.
  • After leaving the Runner’s Zone there will be no return to it, so please pay attention to whether you pick up the luggage you given to the deposit at the start.
  • Your running time will be texted to the phone number you provided at registration.
  • Unofficial race times will be published within 24 hours on the race website (official results will be announced within 2-4 days after analysing possible objections and protests).
FAN & ACTIVITY ZONES
  • Stadium gates will be opened to fans on October the 6th at 10.00-15.00 – entrance by gate 1 and 1A. Entrance to the stadium will be free. The fans will be provided with stands – sectors from 05 to 16.
  • At the Silesian Stadium we have prepared additional attractions, including competitions and sports games for the youngest.
  • Along the route some official but also spontaneously prepared cheering spots will be set up – everything to make the Silesia Marathon an event to remember.

VOLUNTEERS

We prepare competitions for you – the runners, and the organization of the run is primarily involved in social work. Please appreciate the work of volunteers, who will definitely do their best to serve you.

MEDICAL SUPPORT

  • An ambulance with a medical team will be on duty at the finish area at all times. Further four emergency teams will be also present along the route. Additionally at each refreshment station medically trained persons will be present with paramedics.
  • If you need help or notice anybody who needs help, report it to the nearest service person – police, guard, security or a volunteer.
